Running a door list that keeps up with the queue
A thousand people arriving in forty minutes is a data problem before it is a hospitality one. What we learned watching doors at four venues.
Every venue we visited had the same bottleneck, and it was never the scanner. It was the moment a name did not match the list: a ticket bought under a partner's email, a guest added by the promoter an hour earlier, a spelling nobody agreed on.
The fix is rarely faster hardware. It is a list that can be searched by any field, edited at the door without a laptop, and reconciled afterwards so the headcount and the takings tell the same story.
We now measure door speed in seconds per guest rather than scans per minute. The two numbers diverge exactly where the friction is, and that gap is where a night runs late.
